For now, the most visible work is site preparation for what will be 32 ownership townhomes along 20th Street in midtown, north and south of Q Street.
Townhome builder The Grupe Cos. expects vertical construction to start within weeks, said company president Mark Fischer.
Sales of those homes will begin in about a month, he said, with the first homes ready for move-in by summer. Each will be about three stories, 1,900 square feet and have such optional features as a dumbwaiter between the kitchen and garage and rooftop decks, Fischer said.
An interest list for the homes is 100 names long, he said, so sales should be good. “The demand seems to be very strong. There’s just not a lot of housing options in midtown,” Fischer said.
