Sac Biz Journal: Single-family rental project proposed in Natomas

SKK Developments is the latest to join an emerging trend of rental neighborhoods of less-dense housing, proposing 82 homes in Sacramento’s South Natomas area.

According to an application filed with the city, the 9.17-acre site at 920 San Juan Road would have both attached and detached homes, ranging from 1,050 square feet to more than 1,400 square feet.

“The two-story homes will consist of three unique plans including two façades per design while maintaining a common theme throughout the community,” the application states.

Sotiris Kolokotronis, founder and president of SKK, didn’t immediately return a call seeking further information about the proposal, called 920 San Juan in the application. While known for infill housing in mostly urban settings, SKK also helped develop residential, suburban neighborhoods such as Laguna West in Elk Grove and Natoma Station in Folsom.

Natomas Buzz: Rental Project in Natomas being Redesigned as for Sale Development

A single-family rental community proposed for Natomas is being redesigned as a for-sale residential project.

Sacramento city council member Jeff Harris announced the decision by SKK Developments to change the project at 920 San Juan Road during a Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association meeting last week.

SKK representatives confirmed this shift was the direct result of a previous meeting Harris facilitated between the developer and community members held in early June.

Sac Bee: New 2,300-seat live music and event venue planned for midtown Sacramento

Sacramento has long been in search of another mid-sized concert venue that would draw acts not quite big enough to fill Golden 1 Center but popular enough to attract a couple thousand concertgoers. There’s suddenly a lot of interest in building one. SKK Developments, the firm behind several of the central city’s latest high-end apartment buildings, has proposed building a live music, comedy and event theater with a seating capacity of 2,300 in midtown Sacramento. The new theater would replace a vacant industrial building at the southwest corner of 24th and R streets.

Sac Biz Journal: SKK Developments proposes 2,300-seat theater in Midtown Sacramento

SKK Developments’ newest proposal is still urban infill, but with nary a trace of the residential footprint in all the company’s recent projects.

Instead, SKK founder and President Sotiris Kolokotronis is focusing on a destination entertainment venue, with a 2,300-seat theater proposed at 1800 24th St. in Midtown Sacramento.

“The new 42,700-square-foot building will replace an existing vacant industrial/commercial building and will house a stage, box office, lobby, concessions, mezzanine and artist amenities and dressing rooms,” the project application states. The theater would host live music, comedy, podcasts, lectures and corporate events two to three nights per week.
